Flood-prone Wallace Lake spilled over its banks today, flooding some neighborhoods and sending sheriff's deputies and firefighters into the area to bring people out by boat.
Much of the area around Kingston Road and Riding Club Lane was flooded. Water was in some houses and was threatening more.
"You can't stop it; can't do nothing about it. You get used to it after a while," said Gerald Lemons, whose home flooded. He waded through water four feet deep to get to high ground.
Lemons' three children were rescued by boat by a crew from the area's fire district.
Most residents refused to be evacuated, saying things would have to get worse before they left.
Caddo Parish sheriff's deputies were on standby in case the water started getting into more houses.
