A New Orleans woman and a teen-age relative were arrested today after creating a loud and profane disturbance at the Red Cross shelter at Hirsch Coliseum in Shreveport. The woman was upset about the medical care she wanted for her daughter.
Tammy Stalbert, 35, and the 16-year-old girl were arrested on charges of inciting a riot and resisting arrest.
Caddo Sheriff Steve Prator said Stalbert became "extremely belligerent, hostile, and disobedient after confronting deputies regarding medical treatment for her pregnant daughter."
Deputies got medical personnel to evaluate the girl, Prator said, but Stalbert kept interfering. She cursed them and tried to get others in her family to join in, Prator said. Stalbert ignored orders to calm down and was taken to jail, Prator said.
Stalbert's 16-year-old cousin screamed and cursed, too, Prator said. As deputies removed her from the coliseum, family members crowded around them and tried to pull them away from the girl, Prator said.
Prator said the situation calmed down after the two females were removed from Hirsch.
