LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) -- Meteorologists are planning an aerial survey of the destruction caused by at least 10 tornadoes that hit Arkansas late last week.

Friday's tornadoes killed seven people, damaged or destroyed about 400 homes and knocked out electrical and telephone service in nearly 20 counties.

Ten tornadoes have been confirmed, up from an earlier count of eight. Meteorologists said one twister might have traveled 45 miles.

Arkansas has been hit by terrible weather this year. Tornadoes killed 13 people in February; that was followed by a snowstorm that dumped a foot of snow on parts of the state, then flooding that killed at least five.
