Ten people aboard a Sportran city bus were injured today when the bus collided with a car whose driver ran a stop sign in downtown Shreveport.

The motorist who caused the accident was talking on her cell phone when she ran the stop sign, police said.

None of the passengers' injuries were life threatening, authorities said. They were taken to several local hospitals.

The accident happened shortly before 9 a.m. at Cotton Street and Louisiana Avenue

The car, an Acura, careened into a bar on the corner. The driver, 19-year-old Kristin McCain, had to be extricated from the wreckage by a Fire Department rescue squad.

The Sportran driver was not injured.

McCain will be ticketed for running the stop sign, police said.
