For the first time in thirty years, Shreveport police exceeded the national average for solving serious crimes. In 2009, police solved 70.2% of the city's homicides. The national average was 60.2%. Shreveport solved nearly 20% more rapes than the national average. Lt. Jimmy Muller gives credit to everyone on the force, from the officers on patrol to the detectives in the department's specialized units who focus on homicides, sex crimes, auto thefts, property crimes and armed robberies. "The bad guy's not going to win. We're not going to let him get away with it," Muller said.
