The car belonging to a missing Grambling State University student has been found abandoned in Maryland, authorities said.

Michelle "Shelby" McMullen, 27, of Harrisburg, Pa., was last seen on the night of Sept. 28 in Pennsylvania. She had dropped off her 6-year-old son with relatives and was headed back to Grambling, authorities there said.

Ruston police have checked McMullen's house on Skokie Drive and found nothing that seemed out of place, Lt. Curtis Hawkins said today.

McMullen's Honda Accord was found Wednesday just off Interstate 81 in Magerstown, Md.

Sheriff's deputies and bloodhounds checked the car and areas around it and found no signs of foul play, Hagerstown Mayor Stephen Reed said.Items found in the vehicle offer "some further leads," the mayor said without elaborating.

McMullen is a freshman majoring in Spanish at Grambling. She has not used her cell phone or debit card since Sept. 28, her family said. She suffers from severe migraines, the family added.
