The man wanted for killing three people in Bossier City this week is behind bars in Idaho.

Robert McCoy Jr. was arrested at a truck stop just after 9:00 last night.

"It was the city police and the state police there that captured him at a truck terminal," says Bossier City Police Chief Mike Halphen.

Halphen says after killing his estranged wife's parents and teenaged son monday night, McCoy drove through Texas, Arkansas, Washington state and Idaho. They say he was trying to get to California by hitching rides with several truck drivers. They say those drivers should consider themselves extremely lucky.

"We do believe we located the weapon he used in the homicides inside the cab of the truck," says Halphen.

McCoy had been the focus of the largest Bossier City manhunt in recent history.

"This is just a good old-fashioned manhunt that law enforcement is famous for," says Steve Hall of the F.B.I.

Bossier city police, Shreveport police and agents from the U.S. Marshals office and F.B.I. refused to give up until McCoy was captured.

"It was the most cooperation between law enforcement that I have seen ever in my career," says Halphen.

Less than two hours after McCoy was taken into custody his two brothers were released from jail. They were originally charged with accessory.

"We are dismissing the charges right now against the brothers since they did become cooperative with the D.A. reserving at a later date that he can bring them back up depending on the trial and everything else," says Halphen.

McCoy's father, who made a plea for his son to turn himself in is relieved he's finally found.

"He's safe. We're still going to be in his corner. We love him. We're always going to love him," says Robert McCoy Sr.

Authorities say they've already begun the process of bringing McCoy back to Bossier to face charges.

Bossier D.A. Schuyler Marvin says he has not made a final decision if he will seek the death penalty against McCoy, but he says right now he's leaning toward it.
