Shreveport city leaders are expected to once again take up the issue of pay raises for police officers.

Tuesday, Councilman Brian Wooley said in two weeks he plans to introduce a proposal for the raises.

Wooley says he believes the current starting salary of $33,000 a year is too low. He says the department loses dozens of officers to neighboring cities every year and wooley wants to put a stop to it.

Wooley says he would like to see a starting salary for officers at around $37,000 a year.
