Police chase auto theft suspect across town

A police chase across parts of Shreveport this afternoon ended when the fleeing suspect ran into a house -- where police didn't find him but did find a stash of marijuana.

The chase began near Mansfield Road and Valley View when a police patrol officer tried to stop a man driving a stolen truck. It ended in the Werner Park area. A police officer tried to shoot out the tire of the fleeing pickup near Byrd High School.

The chase went to Interstate 20 and then east to Line Avenue. A police officer shot at the truck on Line Avenue near Byrd High but the bullet him the fender and the driver kept going. He eventually wrecked the truck at Vivian Street at Virginia Avenue.

Police converged on the area and got a 911 call the man ran into a house on Vivian Street. Officers went inside to look for him, but he man had apparently bailed out the back.

Officers and a K-9 searching through the house found marijuana in the attic.

The man at the house, Anthony Dotie, 18, was arrested for drug possession. The man driving the truck was still at large this afternoon, police said. No one was injured during the chase.
