Two teenage sisters were killed in Ruston early today in a fire that investigators said appears to have started accidentally in the kitchen of their home.
State Fire Marshal Butch Browning identified the victims as Shielah Shorter, 17, and Shaela Dixon, 13.
Shielah was a Senior at Ruston High School and a member of the ROTC. Shaela was in the 8th grade at Ruston Junior High.
Neighbors say both of the sisters were very intelligent, fun loving and great students. The young girls will be deeply missed.
