A new school opens in Caddo Parish this fall. Summer Grove Baptist Academy administrators started work on the school less than a year ago. They transformed a former church into an elementary school.
If parents want a private school education for their children, they're going to have to pay for it. But some say the thousands they'll spend is worth every penny.
Kylie Richardson faces a tough decision this year of where to send her son for his first year of school. They settled on Summer Grove Baptist Academy. The cost of an education at this private christian school is $4,500 a year.
Richardson says she doesn't mind the bill. "You pay for the peace of mind and you pay for what you get in life, and if you value your child's education you'll do what it takes."
The plans are to start the school year in the fall with kindergarten through third grades. If there is enough interest, the school will also add fourth and fifth grade classes this upcoming school year.
