A Caddo Parish man has been sentenced to five to 20 years in prison for causing an alcohol-related wreck that killed two people last year.

Jacob Seth Cannon, 20, of Mooringsport pleaded guilty in Caddo District Court to two counts of vehicular homicide. In a plea agreement with prosecutors, he was sentenced to 20 years in prison with five years of that sentence to be served before he will be eligible for parole.

Cannon admitted he was responsible for the deaths of Walter Allen, 78, of Birmingham, Ala., and Gail Sanford Price, 63, of Pinson, Ala. in a crash last September on Louisiana Highway 1 in north Caddo Parish.

Caddo sheriff's deputies said Cannon was drunk when he rammed into the back of the couple's Ford pickup, causing it to veer into the path of an oncoming 18-wheeler.

Cannon's blood/alcohol concentration at the time was determined to be .22 -- more than double the legal limit for intoxication.
