Evangel Christian Academy plans to build a 50-bed dormitory near its west Shreveport campus to house foreign-exchange students.

The dorm will be built on a 12-acre site on Klug Pines Road off 70th Street. It will be near, but not on, Evangel's Broadacres Road campus.

The request for a zoning change that allows the dorm to be built was approved this afternoon by Shreveport's Metropolitan Planning Commission.

The dorm will house foreign-exchange students who attend Evangel. Many are from South Korea, although the school has had students from more than 80 nations over the years. Foreign exchange students now live with host families.
