Eleven hurt in city bus accident

Eleven people were injured this morning in a collision between a pickup and a SporTran bus north of downtown Shreveport.

The accident happened about 10 a.m. at Grimmett Drive and Kansas City Avenue.

Two dozen people were aboard the city bus, said SporTran director Gene Eddy. Eleven were taken to hospitals with what police said were non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the pickup was not hurt.

Preliminary indications were that the bus driver was traveling straight on Kansas City when the driver of the pickup turned into the bus while trying to make a left-hand turn, Eddy said.
