East Texas toddler dies after being backed over by grandmother

A 2-year-old boy has died of injuries received when he ran behind his grandmother's vehicle as she backed out of the driveway in Longview, Texas.

Roderick Pierce died late Thursday night at Good Shepherd Medical Center in Longview.

The accident happened just before 5:30 p.m. Thursday. Police said 42-year-old Gloria Norris of Longview was backing her GMC out of the toddler's family driveway when her grandson ran behind the vehicle. Norris did not see the child and backed into him, police said.
