Chase leads to drug bust

A husband and wife from Jackson, Mississippi are behind bars in

Shreveport on drug charges.

The two were arrested at the Guest House Motel on Monkhouse Drive around 10:30 last night after fleeing from a traffic stop and leading authorities on a chase.

It started around 8:30 last night on I-20 after a deputy pulled the car over for a traffic violation.

The deputy became suspicious the driver had drugs and was about to search the car when the driver got back in the car and took off.

The chase went in to west Caddo Parish where the suspect crashed into the back of an SUV.

No one was hurt.

The deputy stopped to help and the suspects got away.

Deputies spotted the suspects' car while checking motel parking lots after the wreck.

Deputies say the couple checked in after the wreck and were arrested in one of the rooms.

Authorities say the man resisted arrest and was tased.

We're told deputies were getting a search warrant in order to seize more than 50 pounds of marijuana from the motel room.

Both the man and his wife face drug charges.

The man faces traffic charges.
