Fire cut through a Shreveport apartment complex building today, destroying 13 occupied units in the building.
The fire was reported around 4:30 a.m. at Quail Creek apartments off Shreveport - Barksdale Highway.
The Fire Department is investigating the cause of the fire. One residents told them he noticed a glow above a thermostat.
The fire, which started in a wall and eventually got into the building's attic, was contained to that one building.
It turned in to a three-alarm fire with 70 firefighters from 16 engine companies fighting the blaze at one point.
Some residents were awakened by banging on their doors as neighbors and firefighters evacuated the burning building and those around it.
"We tried to get all of our things together, our kids our dogs and some clothes," said Aliz Bejar, who lives in a neighboring building. "They didn't know if it was going to go over to our building."
No one was injured.
