The amount of rain that pounded Shreveport-Bossier Tuesday night set records for the amount of rainfall in a one-, two- and three-hour period, the National Weather Service said.

No records are expected to be set today -- but more heavy rain and thunderstorms are coming from Central Texas.

Another two to three inches of rain is expected before this afternoon, when there should be a break in the rain -- at least for a little while.

A cold front that moves into the area on Thursday afternoon will likely end the rain, the Weather Service said.

Nearly 10.5 inches of rain had fallen between Tuesday night and mid-morning.

The National Weather Service said 4.43 inches of rain fell in a one-hour period Tuesday night -- a record amount for that period of time. The old record was 3.16 inches.

Records were also set for the amount of rain in a two-hour period -- 5.73 inches -- and for a three-hour period -- 6.51 inches.
